Position Description:

Lakeshore Community Services, Inc. is a well-established non-profit organization serving the needs of persons with disabilities headquartered in Erie County is seeking a full time Vice President of Human Resources. This position involves a combination of administrative and supervisory skills with responsibility for the Human Resource department.

Responsibilities include providing effective human resource management by developing and implementing policies, programs and services that contribute to the attainment of the Agency and employee goals by properly balancing the needs of the employee and the needs of the Agency. This position will strive to elevate the Agency to the next level to become an employer of choice. The position will interface with all levels of management and support staff. We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual with a track record of positive results within the Human Resources Employment arena. This self-driven, motivated person must possess attention to detail, strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. A strong work ethic, commitment to success and the ability to prioritize are critical. Some overnight travel may be required.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of human resource management, dynamics of employee development and professional growth.
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in employment law.
  • Experience in Unemployment Compensation and Worker's Compensation.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in ADA, EEOC, FLSA, OSHA, ADEA, and DEI.
  • Understand and comply with agency philosophy, policy and procedures, DPW regulations, including all state and federal laws.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State of PA employment and benefits laws/regulations.
  • Experience with human resource information system (HRIS).
  • Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusiveness, collaboration, and teamwork.

Job Type: Full-time 37.5 hours per week with additional hours as needed.

Pay: Salaried Position - TBD based on experience/education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource or related field and a minimum of 7-10 years of human resource experience; master's degree preferred.
  • Professional HR designations such as SPHR, PHR, CEBS or other related professional designation is preferred in addition to the degree requirement.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines concerning human resource administration.
