PAR COVID-19 Provider Media Kit

On April 24, 2020, and on May 6, 2020 PAR held press conferences to advocate to Governor Wolf and the legislature for resources to keep providers afloat during COVID-19. We are asking providers to take the following steps to raise awareness and advocate!

1. Reach out to your local news outlets and share the recording of the press conference. Most news outlets have their contact information, including emails and phone numbers, on their website. During this time when some outlets may be operating with a skeleton crew we recommend you reach out to the top executive/editor. If you need any assistance with contacting your news outlet please reach out to [email protected].

  • We also have draft Provider Op Ed and Family Member letter to the editor. Please feel free to use these documents as guidance and please personalize the message. It’s very important that the impact you are experiencing locally is shared with the media.
  • Please see the Media Call Template for more guidance when you reach out to news outlets and reporters to share your story and the press conference recording.

2. Follow PAR on Facebook and Twitter. When you see a post, please comment and share!

3. Social Media

    • Share posts on social media about how COVID-19 is impacting your organization. Be sure to tag the following accounts on your posts:
      • Governor Wolf (@Governor Tom Wolf on Facebook; @GovernorTomWolf on Twitter)
      • Your legislators (look them up here. Their profile will include their social media information.)
      • PAR (@Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability on Facebook; @PARdotnet on Twitter)
    • Use the hashtags:
      • #SupportMeSupportDSPs
      • #DSPsAreEssential

Stories from Family Members and Individuals

PAR is working with other stakeholders in the system on an initiative to make sure the administration and legislature to hear the voice of families and individuals with ID/A. We are asking PAR members to ask family members and individuals to record a short video (30-45 seconds) to advocate on social media to Governor Wolf and legislators.

Below are the documents needed to film the videos:

Post your short video on social media using the instructions below OR if you prefer, just send it to [email protected] and we will post it for you!

  • If you post the video yourself, please be sure to tag:
    • Governor Wolf (@Governor Tom Wolf on Facebook; @GovernorTomWolf on Twitter)
    • Your legislators (look them up here. Their profile will include their social media information.)
    • PAR (@Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability on Facebook; @PARdotnet on Twitter)
  • Use the hashtags:
    • #SupportMeSupportDSPs
    • #DSPsAreEssential

Please send these video as soon as possible.
