Financial and Payroll Director

Position Description:
The Fiscal and Payroll Director oversees all financial aspects of C.A.R.E.S. business and drive C.A.R.E.S. financial strategy and planning. This position is responsible for assessing the financial performance of the company as well as possible risks and investments. It requires a reliable and trustworthy professional with broad knowledge of all accounting, financial and business principles. 

Responsibilities:

  • Directs company in short and long term fiscal planning, developing departmental policies and procedures, and ongoing evaluation of operational effectiveness.
  • Maintains responsibility for the fiscal integrity of all financial reporting and operations.
  • Meets with leadership on a regular basis for status reports and assists with policy, procedural or regulatory interpretation and problem resolution.
  • Directs the development, maintenance and enhancement of automated systems to support operations and coordinates with other company offices to ensure compatibility of related systems.
  • Oversees the day to day processing of accounts receivables and accounts payables using QuickBooks.
  • Manage enrollment and activity in HCSIS and Promise.
  • Prepares and coordinates payroll input and processing.
  • Works with accountant on filing of quarterly state and federal tax returns.
  • Oversees fiscal and calendar year-end processing of payroll, including supplemental payrolls, W-2 and other tax forms, and other government-required documentation.
  • Determines fiscal and payroll storage and record retention needs in accordance with company policies and procedures and state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Manages fiscal department employees.

Specific Requirements and Preferences:

  • Commitment to serving and empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges
  • Proven experience as director of finance or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and QuickBooks
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field
  • Knowledge and continued learning of government contract management, PROMISE and HCSIS
