Director of Nursing

Position Description:

Director of Nursing Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, supervision, and evaluation of health care services in meeting total nursing needs of those served, in accordance with policies and objectives of St. Edmond’s Home.
  • Demonstrate high level clinical skills and expertise in policy development and research.
  • Responsible oversight and guidance of the entire nursing department.
  • Ensure proper nursing schedules are in place in order to provide adequate professional coverage for all shifts.
  • Continuous evaluation of needs and services concerning nursing care.
  • Review nursing assessments for each resident and ensures their plan is reviewed and revised as required.
  • Review necessary reports for admission, transfer, or the discharge of residents with other professional staff.
  • Experience with trach and vent is a plus.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrator, or his/her designee. 

Specific Requirements and Preferences:

  • BSN Degree required; MSN Degree preferred
  • Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license required.
  • 5 years of administrative and nursing management experience required
  • Electronic Health Record experience preferred. Point Click Care experience a plus.
  • Experience with tracheostomies and ventilators preferred.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Intellectual disability nursing experience preferred.

St. Edmonds Home for Children is a non-profit 44-bed Intermediate Care Facility, providing care to medically fragile children with intellectual and physical disabilities. We are part of the Developmental Programs Division of Catholic Human Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Our mission is to provide compassionate, dignified care, which includes charity, justice and excellence.
