What you’ll do as a Behavioral Support Professional at UCP:

  • Assist staff in defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior and identifying antecedents. 
  • Facilitate team meetings with the identified individual’s Instructor(s) and parent/guardian for the purpose of completing a Functional Behavioral Assessment. 
  • Partner with Instructor and other staff members on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and coloration issues, and factors that can affect development and implementation of interventions. 
  • Assist individuals in reaching goals and objectives as outlined within individual treatment plans, behavior management plans, and individual treatment programs through therapeutic interventions. 
  • Develop a repertoire of assessment strategies consistent with instructional goals, teaching methods, and each individual’s unique needs to more accurately assess behavioral skills and understandings. 
  • Provide direct observation of direct support staff and/or educational staff; providing feedback and further guidance as required and necessary. 
  • Maintain monthly and quarterly records, case notes, observation reports, data, and progress reports, as required by Agency policy, regulations, and standards of practice. 
  • Engage parents/guardians in the “behavior intervention plan” process and empower parents/guardians by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of their dependent.

Specific Requirements and Preferences:
What we’re looking for in a Behavioral Support Professional at UCP:

  • A Bachelor’s degree within a related discipline expected and 2 to 5 years of learning experience within a related professional discipline preferred OR Master’s degree within a related discipline and 0 to 2 years of learning experience within a related professional discipline preferred.
  • Regulatory Compliance (ie. Chapter 51, 2380, 6400).
  • Knowledge specific to the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and/or the aging population.
  • Developmental Planning and Goal Setting. 
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Flexible to work all assigned work schedules including holidays, evenings, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English. 
  • Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. 
  • Written communication skills in English may also be required.
