PAR's 2011 Solution Conference - Direct Support Professional of the Year
Loretta has been employed with EHCA since September of 2007 and has a rare gift for understanding the needs and motivations of people with disabilities. She has impacted many individuals’ lives through work in both residential and community programs. She is currently working in a home waiver program, which supports families caring for an individuals with a disability as well as individuals living independently with a disability. Loretta frequently works with those individuals who exhibit the most challenging behaviors – not only in the home waiver program but also in residential programs.
Loretta has worked one on one with a young lady who lives on her own for the past few years, and when first asked to work with this young lady, she had no hesitations – even though this individual has intense medical concerns and intellectual disabilities paired with challenging behaviors.
Over the years, supervisors at EHCA feel Loretta has shown true dedication to this young lady, as well as to other individuals and to the agency. Loretta has opened her home, her heart and her family to this young lady and the other people she serve. She offers assistance wherever needed and is always willing to jump in and help, especially in the most difficult situations. Loretta’s devotion, compassion and understanding of the individuals she works with and her fellow staff exemplify the phrases, “going the extra mile” and working “above and beyond.” EHCA is truly lucky to have such a loyal and capable staff member.
